The goal of this postdoctoral program is to grow the pool of scientists qualified to transfer advances in climate science and climate prediction into climate-related decision framework(s) and decision tools.

Zavisa I. Janjic Honored by the American Meteorological Society Dr. Zavisa I. Janjic, a UCAR/VSP project scientist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, was awarded the 2007 Francis W. Reichelderfer Award from the American Meteorological Society.

Global atmospheric carbon level may depend primarily on Southern Ocean Circulation. Irina Marinov, who led the study while working in Sarmiento's lab, is currently pursuing postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a NOAA Fellow in Climate and Global Change. (UCAR) announces the continuation of the NOAA Climate and Global Change Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. UCAR manages this NOAA-sponsored program, which pairs recently graduated postdoctorates with host scientists at U.S. institutions to work in an area of mutual interest. The objective of the NOAA Climate & Global Change Postdoctoral Program is to help create the next generation of researchers needed for climate studies. Applications are solicited from qualified postdoctoral candidates. Preference is given to those who have held a PhD for no more than five years. VSP announces the 2007 NOAA Climate and Global Change Postdoctoral Appointments. The NOAA Climate & Global Change Postdoctoral Fellowship Program was started in 1989. The mission is to help create the next generation of researchers needed for climate studies who will be able to provide predictions and assessments of global climate change on seasonal to centennial time scales.
