How to Apply

Application for the 2009 Heliophysics Summer School competition has been closed.

Here are the application requirements:

Participation in a previous Heliophysics Summer School does not prohibit an applicant from being selected for 2009.


A successful candidate should:

  • Be an enrolled graduate student in any phase of training or a first or second year postdoctoral fellow.
  • Major in physics with an emphasis on astrophysics, space physics, or geophysics, or have research experience in at least one of these areas.
  • Plan to pursue a career in heliophysics or astrophysics.


Application materials should include:

  • A cover letter briefly stating motivation for application.
  • Curriculum Vitae with a list of publications, technical reports and professional presentations.
  • Names and addresses of three references (one must be advisor).
  • Graduate school transcripts.
  • One to two page statement of interest and relevance to the summer school goals.
