![]() UCAR Postdoctoral Fellowship 2009ANNOUNCEMENT OF OPPORTUNITYClimate Prediction Applications Postdoctoral Program (CPAPP)The UCAR Visiting Scientist Programs is pleased to announce the continuation of the Climate Prediction Applications Postdoctoral Program (CPAPP). This program has been developed to encourage and build the pool of scientists qualified to transfer advances in climate science & prediction into climate-related decision frameworks and tools. A goal of the program is to develop more active and explicit collaboration between the climate community and agencies involved in climate-related decisions. The program seeks recent or anticipated PhDs who have expertise in climate science and who are interested in applying their knowledge of the climate system and its prediction to the decision needs of society. Preference is given to those who have held a PhD for no more than five years. Two research fellowships will be awarded in 2009. Applications may be submitted in electronic form (preferably *.pdf) via email attachments sent to vspapply@ucar.edu. The CPAPP selection committee will choose a short list of candidates from the pool of applicants by mid-January 2009. Short-listed candidates will be provided information on the hosting partner institutions and will be asked to write a short proposal as part of the second stage of the application process. Those receiving the fellowships will be UCAR employees and will receive a fixed annual salary. UCAR benefits include health and dental insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, TIAA/CREF retirement fund, and life insurance.
